And I'm 100% for that as marked improvement.Torihttp://anytimeyoga.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764974377060271432.post-60889110272577118442012-01-27T14:41:08.623-05:002012-01-27T14:41:08.623-05:00I'm one of those who believes the rapist won&#...I'm one of those who believes the rapist won't necessarily listen, but I don't think that lessens the need for us to take the focus off the victim's so called "responsibility" and place it on the perpetrator.

By putting the responsibility where it lies, not only are we creating a culture that will be more supportive of the target of a sexual assault, but one that will be less supportive of the perpetrator. We also place responsibility on those who are complicit in sexual assault; everyone who knows a rape apologist and allows a callous comment here and there, everyone who can see misogyny brewing in a rejected boyfriend, or misopaedia disguised as humour is now in a better position to speak up. By making it easier to recognize the abuse of authority, we create a society that supports those who are abused and can put safeguards in place when deciding where to place our trust.

And by using accountable language, we make it easier to effectively deal with offenders not only criminally, but socially as well.

And the dark alley/never be alone/don't talk to strangers BS has to end. It's important we ALL understand intent creates access, but access does NOT create intent!

I think you're bang on, Damsel. Trust your gut!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
